I need to start making a detailed To do list of what and when things needed for my game but for the first week, I'm just going to do what I want. This is because I just to get back into the groove of making this game, then starting from following week; week two, I will make an detailed itinerary.
So here is what I've started on so far:
Layout of Level 2 - The Park
Closer look at the Waterfall.
The layout of Level 2 the park has been laid out to where it can now be worked on further. I am going to start making the level look appealing at a basic level before start on the game play aspect of this level. Once basic structure of this level is completed I will start working on the gameplay aspect which will mean I will have to change a few things about the map here and there.
The Water Shader
During my viva (demonstration of my work) at university I discussed that in the future I want to get to dabble into making unreal shaders, as this level requires water I decided to make a water shader. The way I made this shader was using the time and the absolute world position, using these two I created wave pattern animation on it. Then I set up parameters that controlled water wave size (basically stretching of the normal maps) , The big and small wave size and speed. The end product came out quite well. Currently this water is too "tropical" for my level and will need to be adjusted to fit into the level properly but for my first shader I am proud of it.
Retopology of Echo
Before
After
I recently learnt the process of how to Retopology, using the skills learn I have come to point where Echo has a much cleaner looking polygon, this will mean my uvmapping will be much cleaner and easier then before. With these skills learnt I can now use this on my future work.
